The 2012 Doomsday Prediction is a popular notion in many movies and books. According to this, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.
This end of the world prediction is based on the end of the MesoAmerican Long Count Calendar. Mayan astronomers predicted a rare alignment of the Earth, Sun and centre of the Milky Way galaxy on December 21, 2012.
Certain environmentalists have predicted that the destruction of the Earth due to environmental damage caused by humans will reach a point of no return in 2012, in alignment with the Mayan prophecy.
Certain New Age philosophies see 2012 not as the end of the world per se, but rather as a rebirth of spiritual awareness.
The uncertain events of 2012 have been the subject of films like I Am Legend, Death Race, 2012: Doomsday and The Fallen: 2012.
Mayan’s referred to the end of the calendar as the end of the 13th Bak’tun, and many scientists have criticized the Doomsday Theory since there is no archaelogical evidence that the Mayans attached any end of the world significance to 2012.

Every calendar has years when some set amount of time has passed when it either “rolls over” or “ends” in some way. Last was 2000 in the Gregorian calendar when the digits rolled over, and nothing cosmic happened. People of all times have had these “predictions” about the end of the world. This one about 2012 is a wholly modern one.
For better or worse, our civilization is not coming to an end with a bang. It’s going out with a whimper, when it goes, and of course, nobody can really predict just how and when that will happen.

The happening of the Twin Towers falling in New York city was shown on the Mayan calendar in 2000. So, the Mayans did predict something big was going to happen in 2000, and it did happen. Maybe now on December 21, 2012, the world may come to an end with a “bang” since the mayan calendar came to a dead end.
Maybe there is something to the Mayan predictions, but then again, if they could see the future, then why didn’t they know to avoid the Spanish conquistadors?

All that I know is the bible also say that NO ONE will know the time or the date only OUr Lord knows the date and time. For all we know that time can be tomorrow.
I have read extensively on this matter i.e. doomsday 12.21.2012. Whilst there are many interesting theories proposed by experts in their respective disciplines, I don’t believe that we will witness a “final cataclysmic event”. Our home (planet earth) is changing, of that there can be no doubt. Just look at the changes in recent weather patterns. But such changes are ‘normal’ – nothing stays the same, even our environment changes. Such changes will, I think, unfold gradually – over decades or even centauries. So don’t give up your day jobs, and be careful to draw a huge loan cos you reckon you won’t have to pay it all back. Let’s just enjoy the lives we have been blessed with!!!
How in the world could these people have known the world would end? That was so many years ago, how can you just tell the world will end? It doesn’t make sense. Noone should worry about it; theres nothing we can do anyway!
i think that the world is going to end on december 21, 2012 because the mayas seemed to warn us abou it. fire, water even earth is stronger aginst humanity, we can die, ther is eveidence of how the worl will end there are many i dont know how are we going to survive, but if there is a way why wait there is still 2 more years but will that be enough for everyone in the world.

The world can’t end in 2012. It just cant, 2000 with were rumors still we are here, what makes 2012 different. No one can tell when the world will end and for Christians I think it is clearly stated the world will end but no one knows when. Trouble making people get a job and stop spreading rumors that affect everyone, even if there not true.
