“As quickly as you can, snatch the pebble from my hand.”

These were the words that heralded the start of my love for Kung Fu, the TV series. I was eleven years old, and after every episode I felt INVINCIBLE, that anything is possible, and that I could truly fight blind-folded like Grasshopper.

The series ran from 1972 to 1975 - I watched reruns in the 80s. Kung Fu follows the adventures of a Shaolin monk, Kwai Chang Caine (portrayed by David Carradine as an adult, Keith Carradine as a teenager and Radames Pera as a young boy) who travels through the American Old West (armed only with his skill in martial arts) as he seeks his half-brother, Danny Caine.

Caine was my hero and Kung Fu was the best show on TV at the time. Now, it’s available in all its glory as a DVD box set, which I MUST get my grubby paws on as soon as possible.
